Gas prices continue to rise in Park Rapids

Whether escalating gas prices will affect Hubbard County’s summer tourism is unknown, but as more consumers scream over prices at the pump, the dollars per gallon issue is becoming a political hot potato in an election year. Continue Reading

I was disappointed that Walmart chose not to include a gas station in the PR store’s development as the Walmart gas station in Bemidji seems to keep the price of gas about ten cents per gallon less than in PR, which always seems higher than anywhere else. On the way back from the cities, I stopped in Leader (that small watering hole just north of Motley on Rt. 64) and the price of gas was 30 cents per gallon less than PR’s best price! So much for the theory that small towns need to charge more to make up for the lower volume.
I believe that the station owners in PR charge more simply because they can and none of the owners are interested in going against the grain and lowering their rates. I rather like the six cent discount for cash or check at two stations, but the 5% discount (that comes to 18.4 cents per gallon discount) from Discover card right now has helped with the gasoline budget.
Best advice I have is to check your tires’ air pressure, replace your air filter, drive less if you can, slow down to the speed limit, and imagine you are seeing dollars fly out the window every time you put the pedal to the medal trying to impress other drivers!

Price fixing in the US has a long a rich history and is as American as apple pie with a sprinkle of greed and capitalism a la mode! Hey don’t you know that those Hawaiian vacations the gas station owners take in the winter aren’t getting any cheaper! You should be glad that they are kind enough to pay employees to work for them for such a generous part time wage package and with no vacation time or health benefits. The peasants must learn their place in the world. We must keep the wealthy in Minnesota happy or they might move to South Dakota or the Cayman Islands and then how could we possible live without their benevolent and righteous guidance? God bless us all, especially those attempting to get that camel through the eye of the needle.

you want to hide my reply, don’t like the truth, tough SH!!
Look at the towns near you, gas staion owners in PR own them too so it makes it not woth while to drive out of town to buy gas—-TM Express—ownes stations in Nevis and Akeley, and there are more—-think about it.. Park Rapids is a rip off, take that one stop further, Hubbard county is a rip off of every one that lives and payes taxes in that sorry excuse for a great place to live…. Wise up, get out before they have you so broke you can’t get out.

Price fixing has gone on here for a long time. Not just gas. I price a auto part in Bemidji and then went to buy it at the same name part store in PR its was 6.00 $ more in PR . I complained and they did give for the Bemidji price. Ive ran in to the same thing at other store that have sister store in Pr or Bemidji. Hubbard Co is one of the poor Co in the state . and a lower wage then other town around us.
