Santorum takes North Dakota
March 6, 2012 at 3:32 pm in Grand Forks Herald
Despite a final in-person pitch from libertarian Ron Paul, it was former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum who took home the most votes in North Dakota’s statewide Republican caucuses. As of press time, 68 percent of the statewide districts had reported in incomplete and unofficial results.
With 32 of 47 legislative districts reporting, Santorum led with 37.7 percent of the statewide vote. Continue Reading

As a moderate Republican, Santorum’s rise deeply concerns me. What Democrats and Republicans want are irrelevant in an election. Democrats will vote for their candidates and we’ll vote for ours (face it- no matter how bad they might be
). It’s the independents that matter. Romney is the moderate that we need. Santorum is too far right and has too much of a disingenuous streak to attract the majority of independents. If Santorum gets the nomination, we have 4 more years of Obama. Period.

We will have 4 more years of Obama even with Romney as a candidate. And that’s just fine with me. The Repubican party has sold its soul to the far right extremists as evidenced by Santorum’s win in ND. You are right that no independant will vote with the Republicans because they have lost their collective way.

Believe me, this extremism is frustrating for this (once what was what considered to be a) mainstream Republican. It is quite amusing to see all but Ron Paul paint themselves as the 2nd coming of Ronald Reagan. However, the amusing observation is that 1980′s Ronald Reagan would be to the left of all 4 of these guys. AND Reagan was respectful to the opposing party.

Unfortunately I was to busy trying to ensure I had bids out the door to be able to attend. My intention is to vote Paul. I don’t like some of his policies, but then I don’t like a lot of the other policies.
An to those of you who believe Independents are voting for Obama.. I think you have that very very wrong. The only thing that will protect him is if the middle east starts singing Kumbaya in Unison.

Mitt or Rick has no chance of beating BO. BO has an economy that is doing considerably better, his stance on foreign policy and his connection with middle class Americans will win him the election this year. Anyone who believes BO has displayed a weakness with Iran must really enjoy the beating of the war drums or is easily duped by political BS.
Am I excited about BO version 2.0…..not really

You can “think” what you want. I just want someone electable, not a fringe creep that turns off the independents.

“Leftist?? I’ve voted for a Republican in every election since I was eligible in 1976, with the sole exception of Clinton’s 2nd term.

For years we have been told to “not waste your vote on a third party (or unelectable) candidate”. I have come to the conclusion that voting for the “lesser of two evils” is a waste of my vote. I will vote my conscious this year and write in a candidate. It’s time to rebel against the Democrat / Republican duopoly. Let’s see now, Paul/Kucinich, or Kucinich/Paul? Decisions, decisions . . . . .

Agreed. I’m also tired of wasting my vote on the lesser of two evils. There is rarely significant change. Time to get back to the basics. I think Ron Paul’s position seems quite logical.

Right on Jscar! Ron Paul is the only true Republican. The rest are imposters, leading the current crop of sheep who claim to be Conservatives. As far as I am concerned Rick S can take his followers (The Christian Taliban) over to the Middle East. They can fix all drama over there in seven days, but please stay there.
