The attitude of the GOP towards women has always been ambivalent. They want women to vote for them, but they don’t support issues really central to what women find important in their lives like access to contraceptives and equal pay for equal work. The “new” more conservative GOP has gone even further over to the side of keeping women “where they belong”; at home having babies and homeschooling their kids. It should be frightening to all of us if this party gets anywhere near being able to accomplish their agenda regarding women. If some women want to do those things, fine. But to make it harder for all women to get contraceptives? A bridge too far.
