I think the school is going to be a great thing. However, I dont think the taxpayers there realize that after the interest is tagged onto the loan, they’ll actually be paying closer to 125 MILLION dollars, and not the 70 million thats thrown around. Glad I dont live there!!

Jayne,
I also find it odd that people listing capital costs never include the interest on them. Perhaps bonding questions should have an estimated cost after interest in parenthesis.
I have been a skeptic on the new school’s plan and need as well. I don’t like the move away from the Tech College and the amount of money being spent to build infrastructure that already existed at the current site.
Overall I think the district board and administration do a good job of managing the district so I presume that it won’t become a boondoggle like Duluth’s school issues.

Buying a house for $200,000 with a 30 year mortgage, you end up paying closer to $350,000 in the long run. Is this really news to people that paying interest costs more than the initial loan amount? I am pretty sure that most taxpayers understand the concept of interest.
