Last time I checked, teachers are employees of a school district, NOT THE STATE. If they want a raise they need to take it up with their school board. The school district I live in had no problem handing out raises to staff in 2009 and 2010, all the while state workers wallets had to go thin the past three years. Gas prices have gone up, property taxes have gone up, price of groceries has gone up; in short everything has gone up except the state worker’s paycheck. Try going without a raise for 44 months and you will see what I am talking about.
