A military honor guard stands by the casket of Josh Gokey in front of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley Saturday morning. Gokey, a Spring Valley native and member of the Army’s 82nd Airborne division, died due to complications from surgery. He had joined the Army only the previous year before and yet received awards and decorations including the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. He is survived by his wife, Holly Rae Gokey of Fort Bragg, and his parents, William and Anita Gokey of Spring Valley. Continue Reading
