Primary Feb. 21: Six of seven school board candidates will move on to April 3 election

The Hudson Star-Observer recently posed a series of three questions to the candidates currently running for the Hudson School Board. Their replies are shown below: Continue Reading

All three incumbent members strongly support the referendum yet, with only 54 days until the vote, neither the board nor the administration has made ANY effort to sell the plan to the public. This is a point that is made by all the challengers in this article — because it’s so painfully obvious. So one has to wonder if the school board and administration are just complacent or perhaps just asleep at the wheel. Hello Mary Bowen-Eggebratten! Anyone home!? Do you want this referendum to pass or not?? If so, you should maybe let the public know why you think it’s a good idea. And, by the way, where are the “Friend of Hudson Schools”? Where are their big full-page ads in the HSO, and their letters to the editor, and their “Vote Yes” yard signs? I guess they are another group that is MIA. Brother, what a way to run a school district.
Hot debate. What do you think?

Probably because there’s not that many people who want to vote Yes to yet another referendum that has already been voted down.

My thoughts: We need different voices representing our school. Let’s bring in new perspectives ! Can’t wait to vote on Feb. 21.

Please tell me WHY the dog track is the best option. What is the plan? people need to know what is happening and it is difficult to get information other than “it is crowded in the current buildings”. Is population growth really going to continue at the same pace? What does the research say about population growth AFTER a new school is built. we really don’t want to be overcapacity before it opens do we, like before, remember…

Must be some conspiracy out there vs Sandy Gehrke. Judging from her interview questions, she can be on my school board anytime.

No conspiracy. Go read her blog-inflammatory and absolutely inflexible. Contrary to what some would have you believe, we need people that can work with others and be willing to look at all sides of issues. And yes, sometimes compromise. I wouldn’t vote for her if she were running for dog catcher.

I agree – her blog is almost humorous. She seems to be very one-sided. We need people on the board that will listen to concerns of tax payers and work with others on the board as a team.
