I suspect the property-tax parasites are trying to scare the voters with their rhetoric.
Property taxes are part of a larger racket where eastern establishment predatory investment bankers take money out of local economies with their ridiculous fees they charge to underwrite and issue the bonds.
The school boards are part of the racket – ever notice how school officials contracts are bought out and never terminated? Where do you suppose those funds come from? ISD taxing authority maybe?
