Duluth voters might be asking themselves this week whether they’d have voted to raise their own taxes for a new parks levy had they seen a breakdown of how the money was to be spent before casting their ballots.

With $250,000 being spent on youth recreation, I am hoping that MY neighborhood rec center will be open again this summer for my kids after being shut down for 3 years….that is why I voted for it. Restoring youth programming that was cut should superceed inventing any new positions. We re-opened the libraries, what about the rec centers?

When I voted for this levy I went and read the Parks and Rec plan. The position for a volunteer coordinator is clearly mentioned in the Master Plan Action Steps at the end of the document. Item #28, and also mentioned in items #33, and # 35. I don’t know that all voters read the plan..but, seems to me, that this was in the plan and there for anyone to see if they did their homework.

Do you happen to be a city council person who voted for the position, or are you in line for the position?

I am just asking, since you have the line or item numbers, from the ballot, where it makes mention of the position to be created, all of this, off the top of your head?
