I think changing the fee into a tax is a fantastic idea. If we convert the “street light fee” into a tax, we can then rename the fee to “citizen education fee” and have it support our citizen anti-racism education. We just need to decide what is easier, reallocate or reassign (depending on what the wording would need to be) the existing and future fees being collected? After all, the Duluth citydiots won’t know what’s happening anyways.

If all the lights are turned off, it would be much easier for the white anti-racists to badger people without getting busted.

I think maybe we should turn the lights off, since we do not want businesses to locate or expand here, that way the last person left here won’t forget the lights on and waste energy.

Keep it a fee so all who have a utility bill share the burden of maintaining the soft glow of our street lights. By adding it to property taxes the burden is increased and shared by fewer citizens.

gee, don’t property taxes help pay for the lights in the first place? I guess making the national spotlight as a joke the last time this came up wasn’t enough we have to convince to people we’re huckleberry’s. Typical Duluth…

This is not a fee already, it is a Tax. Fees are optional, Taxes are mandated, this has been mandated by the council, $3 then $5, next what $10… costs increase daily. City Hall spends money, their only function, you pay taxes. I felt sorry you all got sucked into the Street Light tax until you voted to tax yourselves with the “Parks, Library, Ness” reelection fund.

Putting a coin operated metering switch on each light pole might work.
