Why the big rush to a new state flag? Is this pressing state business? Personally, I like the old flag better. If we do need a new flag, why not have a design competition? Who knows, there might be dozens of designs that are more attractive and much more relevant.

I do not see any reason for a ‘new’ flag. The present flag tells the story of what SD is.

“I promise you in 20 or 30 years they’ll fly the flag as proudly as Texans do,” Hunhoff said………Does Mr. Hunhoff think we South Dakotans don’t fly our flag proudly now? Why would he say this? I suggest, since the legislature enjoys having the ‘populace’ vote on stuff…………we the people should vote on whether we want our flag changed. Has this been a concern? Are folks writing in requesting a change? Or is it some scapegoat for the legislature to NOT discuss important issues of concern to we citizens? They seem to do this frequently in the past.
