When we were in Norway, you were charged a small amount per bag, if you chose to use plastic bags. I think this is a great way to transition folks into using green-friendly reusable bags! It ‘paid’ to use them in Norway.

Green-friendly bags? Are you talking about those crappy $1-each pieces of junk sold in many stores such as Hugos?
They’re all made in China, notorious for having–but not enforcing–environmental protection laws.
If you think those bags are “green”, you’re deluded. You just can’t see the environmental damage from here.
