The meeting on Feb. 20 should be open, not closed.
If this investigation accomplishes nothing else, it should fire a warning shot across the bow, so to speak, to the commissioners, many of whom appear to be more self-serving than public-serving. Many times people in authority feel they have a sense of entitlement, get drunk with power, and that can ultimately lead to abuses. I’m not saying that’s what happened here, but it’s worth a look. Arrogance has no place in public service.
I assume Nobles County taxpayers are footing the bill for the lawyer the commissioners hired?

We all know what is going to happen. The administrator contract is not available for public review. So for sure said administrator will get paid big bucks to leave. (if that is what happens) And would a different administrator be any better? The trend seems to be: County administrators start off with well-meaning intentions, and end up power crazed monarchs. Not naming any names or infering any connections to any persons either local or in other counties in Minnesota or other states. Just stating my personal opinion based on reading numerous newspapers online. The general public would like to be able to review and comment on the next contract. Not to much to ask and it would be a welcome compromise between the elected commissioners and the citizens of nobles counties.

Forget about the investigation for a minute and think back to all the things you have read in the paper about what this administrator has done to this county. That alone should speak very loud and clear to the county commissioners. Do the right thing for nobles county get us back on track.
