Good points…..Some who think there should be a new school built in south Forks while shutting down schools in the north seem to think that it is unfair to keep those schools open. I wonder why it is fair for those parents in the north to have to find ways to haul their kids to the schools in the south end, but not fair to expand the districts to get more of an even distribution throughout the city? I think that most of those who would have to go to a north end school would be closer than all those coming south from the far north end.
You know if a certain real estate developer hadn’t given the city a very cheap deal they couldn’t refuse (While making a huge bundle himself) we most likely would be having this conversation about needing schools half way to Manvel instead of south. The mall was originally planned to be someplace northwest of Gateway and I29. Once the mall was placced south the town grew towards and around it. I don’t know, but I’ve heard that decision actually ended up losing a lot better planting ground than the original plan….Damn shame….
