You know, why not celebrate their 138th anniversary with great pride? I say they go for it–have the party, the fireworks, the parade, all the stuff they planned–and proudly proclaim this their 138th year. Change the name of Main Street to “138th Ave” by decree.
According to Wikipedia, 138 is a Sphenic number–the product of three prime numbers (2X3X23) and therefore, squarefree.
It is also the sum of four consecutive prime numbers (29 + 31 + 37 + 41).
Thi Simpsons, too, had a 138th Episode Spectacular http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Simpsons_138th_Episode_Spectacular
Make lemonade folks–and market the heck out of it. Best of luck!
