An ongoing pattern of granting variances to prospective home builders has at least one appointed county official wondering if the real-life application of Davison County’s zoning code is conflicting with county land use goals. Continue Reading

I think voting no is what all of the county officals should be doing. We moved to South Dakota because of zoning issues. We had a farm in MN and someone moved right next to our farm. 300 ft to be exact. When we moved there we had two homes on the road which was 1 mile long. When we sold the place there where 6 homes on that road. What people need to think about with variances is that people fall on hard times, so they sell some of the land to another person to build and soon you have urban sprawl, people complaining about the noise, complaining of the smell, the list goes on and on. Stick with what the laws are so that people dont build on top of each other and perserve our farm land. There are many places to buy out there its not the countys problem to worry about their finances.
