To make affordable housing happen, North Dakota needs taxpayers’ support. These contributions will make a difference.

This is EXACTLY what MUST NOT happen.
Affordable housing is nothing more than Corporate Welfare; the taxpayer being forced to subsidize people’s low wages paid by corporations with no ethics. When the taxpayer isn’t making up for unfairly low wages, the business will have to pay more to keep employees. We see that a little bit already:
“And, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for Main Street businesses to attract and keep workers. ”
No, it’s difficult to attract and keep workers WHEN YOU UNDERPAY for those positions.
Affordable housing is called “mobile homes” situated in “trailer parks”; and there’s not one dime of tax money that needs to be diverted in order to provide low-cost housing. Viable options already exist; and government fights tooth-and-nail against them; apparently high-powered real-estate developers don’t make much money from trailer parks.
The LAST thing this state needs is for government to screw with home prices and the free-market forces that determine value. We saw the inevitable result (nationwide) of that back in ’07–’08 when government interference caused the collapse of the real estate market.
I am so tired of taxpayers being screwed in order to enhance corporate profits.

And what about all those retired on a fixed income?
Or the disabled who live on a fixed income. It is not just people who work low wage jobs being displaced.
The market will force wages up but Gramma will be living in the dumpster.
