Do people discriminate against black-coated pets? As strange as it may sound, the answer appears to be yes. Black pets often are the last ones to be adopted and the first in line to be euthanized in a phenomena that even has a name “black dog syndrome.” Continue Reading

Maybe these are valid points. However; I’m thinking that there’s probably more black dogs than than most other colors. The article pointed out how in mixed breeds the black hair is often dominant. So maybe it’s a bit like the “Mike” name syndrome. At one time nearly everyone seemed to have a Mike (Or John, Bill, Tom, Pete, Larry, Bob, Tim, or Mark) in their household. To the point that the names became too over saturated and today none of those names are even in the top ten anymore….Maybe there’s a correlation here. Maybe there’s just so many black dogs available that people are looking for something less common, and not necessarily aganst the color of the dog in general….Just wondering…

Sweetest dog I ever had was a black lab. Just a perfect house dog/pet.
