Council to interview five candidates to lead city’s police

The Jamestown City Council will interview five applicants for police chief during special meetings Dec. 19 and 22, according to Jay Sveum, human resource officer for the city. The five candidates include four from within the Jamestown Police Department and one from the Moorhead (Minn.) Police Department.

Not to put the Jamestown Police down, but there was a total of 16 applicants. A majority of those were from out of state, so how did we end up with 4 of the final 5 from Jamestown?

they already know who they are going to hire. that’s kind of how these things work. but they need to pretend it’s a fair process and that other people had a chance. but really, the nationwide search is kind of just a formality.

You wouldn’t want any outside perspective. Jamestown needs to be kept as in-bred as possible.
