Attorney files claim against village
December 14, 2011 at 6:58 am in Hudson Star-Observer
William Radosevich, a prominent local attorney, has filed a notice of claim against the village of North Hudson for what he calls an illegal arrest and false imprisonment. He is asking for $50,000 in damages. Continue Reading

Finally! The North Hudson police and county deputies have been thumbing their noses at the constitution and trampling upon our rights for far too long around here! Probable cause? We had some anonymous person call in and complain? Its such BS! This officer needs to be fired. And North Hudson PD’s over-zealous approach to law enforcement needs to stop immediately. Maybe a civilian review board and a serious trimming of the police budget is what is needed. We can save thousands eliminating a few officer positions. Violate our rights – lose some funding. Go get em Mr. Radosevich – they’ve had it coming for a long time.

I couldn’t agree more Lawrence. I’m sad to say that after being born and raised in North Hudson for 18 years, I do not even attempt to drive there any longer. That means not spending money at any of their fine establishments. These police officers they have are doing more harm to NH than good. I am surprised that it has taken this long for someone to raise this issue on a legal level. and from what I see Mr. Radosevich has a good case. I will keep my money in the City of Hudson where I know that i will be treated fairly by law enforcement.

I hope the guy wins. There is nothing I dislike more than an over zealous cop, and that describes 90% of them.

Lets get down to the brass tacks: Yes, the North Hudson Police Department will pull you over for the slightest of infractions. And yes, they will also pull you over for no infraction and manufacture probable cause later if necessary. But why? Because they are on a fishing expedition – that is, they are looking for a fineable offense. But why (again)? They do this because they are encouraged to engage in draconian “law enforcement” by the North Hudson Village Board. But why would the Board encourage this? They do so because they are of the opinion that the best way to finance Village operations is through the fines generated by the North Hudson Police Department. Is it the best way? Of course not! The best way to finance community operations is by fostering business growth – growth that will not occur when people are afraid to even drive through your community. The answer? To achieve real community growth and economic stability, vote out every member of the board, fire every police official, and start over. Encourage fair treatment of all citizens and visitors, because business begins (and ends) with the desire of people to visit and feel comfortable in your community. Once you have a community that people feel comfortable visiting and spending time in, businesses will grow to accommodate increased demand. More businesses equals a greater tax base – which will equate to SUSTAINABLE revenue based upon demand rather than victimization (not to mention just a nicer place to live). There you go – the ball is in our court.

Drive the speed limit and drive sober…..no problems in NHudson. Complaining about officers doing their job and enforcing the law is laughable…..to law-abiding people that is.
Keep it up NHPD!! Keep our community safe.

I’m glad that I’m not alone in disagreeing with you on every single thing you say. However, I am a bit worried that you have access to so many young, moldable minds every day.

From Wiki:
The letter of the law versus the spirit of the law is an idiomatic antithesis. When one obeys the letter of the law but not the spirit, one is obeying the literal interpretation of the words (the “letter”) of the law, but not the intent of those who wrote the law. Conversely, when one obeys the spirit of the law but not the letter, one is doing what the authors of the law intended, though not necessarily adhering to the literal wording.
“Law” originally referred to legislative statute, but in the idiom may refer to any kind of rule. Intentionally following the letter of the law but not the spirit may be accomplished through exploiting technicalities, loopholes, and ambiguous language. Following the letter of the law but not the spirit is also a tactic used by oppressive governments

Speeders, drunk drivers, and other law-breakers generally don’t care for da police….as seen here.
On the other hand, law abiding citizens appreciate our village PD and the public safety they provide and were hired to do.
