My wife and I went to the Elbo Room several times over the last few years. Four out of six time the service was lousy. Long waits to order, wrong items, forever to get minor requests like a steak knife, water, extra napkins, etc. And to just top off this usually wasted evening dining experienced, we often had the pleasure of a crabby, slow or snippy waitress. As a result, we stopped going there a year ago and several of our friends or aquaintences stopped eating at the Elbo Room before that. Now a take out pizza shop? Well, that seems about the limit of their restaurant managing interest and capability.

Agreed. A friend and I often tried to dine there when we could synchronize work schedules. We were told they closed at 9p. Arriving @ 7p we were frequently given to go boxes and our checks by waitstaff in coats by 8p. (Our food MAY have arrived by 7:30 ) When asked if they changed their closing time we were told, “We close when everyone is gone.” As we were diners, we naively presumed we were still customers and they closed at 9p. We have had wonderful and awful service there. We have had wonderful and awful food there. We also stopped going appx 3 yrs ago. VIP has much better food and service – consistently. This move is an improvement for all involved.
