Economic development in Jamestown has been a joke for years, and so has population growth. Mayor Andersen claims population doesn’t matter, yet she flat out lied about Jamestown’s population earlier this year, inflating the number by 600 people.
One of the things that was to be the hallmark of Jamestown’s supposed “growth” was the Jamestown Hospital, excuse me, the Jamestown Mega Worldwide Medical Center.
In the past month or so, several people have been air lifted from Jamestown to a Fargo Hospital by the LifeFlight helicopter, including one last week. If this hospital is so good, why do patients continue to go to Fargo for anything major?
I read obituaries, study them actually. I’ve notice in the last 3 months a number of Jamestown residents who died in a Fargo hospital. No, the hospital didn’t kill them, I’m saying that when Jamestown people are really sick, they still elect to go to Fargo for better care.
Couple that with the population loss and the drop from 5th place to 9th place in the state population rankings and it’s obvious that Jamestown is headed down hill. No disputing any of that.
Throwing development money at something isn’t solving the problem.

I think it’s time to put tax on ballot again. If the council doesn’t do it, lets get a petition. Who’s all on board, remember it’s our money, let’s send a message.

Accountability is a good thing. There is definitely a lot of money being thrown around and it definitely doesn’t hurt to ask questions and require our reps to justify their votes.
