Bound for the border: St. Mary’s team follows in footsteps of immigrants
November 30, 2011 at 6:00 pm in Worthington Daily Globe
WORTHINGTON People who venture into the desert in an attempt to cross the border illegally find their lives changed by the experience, one way or another. Some find a new life in the United States. Some get caught by the border patrol and end up in a detention center. Some die.

St. Mary’s, what part of ILLEGAL don’t you understand. Do you really think that none of the ILLEGAL aliens you have helped come to our country are carrying drugs, have criminal pasts ect.? Wake up St. Mary’s. The next time you read about an ILLEGAL alien who drove drunk and killed someone, got arrested for drugs, molested a child, or some other crime…..you can sleep better knowing you may have helped them get here. No, I’m not a cold hearted bigot. I love LEGAL immigration, it helps our country, but they come here prepared and ready to assimilate into our communities. They have waited in line and did it the LEGAL way. I’d think twice when they pass the plate, wondering my money is going.

Father Callahan better watch his back and lock his doors. Deano — are you ready to execute that arrest warrant? Or just make a citizen’s arrest?
Are you really ready to pick a fight with the Catholic church?
Did you and pat e. even READ the whole story? What I got from it was that some locals on the mission, who had conflicted views of the whole immigration debate, had their eyes OPENED once they got down to Nogales and met real people with real problems, challenges and concerns. I believe some others ‘– frequent bloggers here — could benefit from a mission such as this.

Go for it, Deano! It sounds like this is your constitutional duty and a mission you can really sink your teeth into.
Here’s all you need to finally bring these scoundrels to justice:
Church address:
1215 7th Ave
Worthington, Minnesota
(507) 376-6005
Go on now. Don’t delay. We’ll all be watching for a story about the bust in the Globe.

I’m sure I already knew the Church address, what I need is one more name. Pretty hard to champion illegal actions, there is really no good argument for it, if there was it probably wouldn’t be illegal! At least you haven’t resorted to name calling, this time, Yet!

A bus of volunteers leaves in August. Beano, Deano & Pat should go.
What a miracle that would be if their eyes were opened & grew some compassion.

Ok, as I’ve said, I’ve been there. I know they have a plight. I don’t think you are old enough to remember and have seen what this issue as done. So lets say you had a job at the plant in 1983, making say $15 hr. ok the plant suddenly closes for no reason, financially they were supper strong. A while later they reopen at $5 hr. now most of the employees had to leave town, but some stayed. You were one that did. Right off the bat the plant started recruiting illegals. This worked great for them, now they had all the employees they wanted cheap. So now you either work there for $5 hr. or not at all. Can you see where I’m going, yet? Your whole family is oppressed, you kids grow up with much less, less of an education, more drugs and crime, no nice car for graduation, fact to matter Dad can’t even afford a new car! No moving on to a nicer house, hard time making the payments on the old one, some couldn’t. Little chance of collage for the kids. Not just you and your kids, but the whole region was and still is oppressed after all these years! Now if you could have seen the future you would have left when the rest did, but it got worse over time, rather then better, it snuck up slowly. From here the list just gets worse and worse, you know that I hope. This story has been repeated all over the U.S. and now we are broke. In a large part do to this issue! Now I wouldn’t mind helping these people out, BUT I sure hate losing my country and my way of life to do it! This whole illegal immigration and open borders is just plain wrong. I haven’t even touched on the security issue. This problem needs to be fixed legally! Soon.

Great example St. Mary’s! Your action have an impact in the lives of many here in earth and it will also be rewarded in the afterlife: “I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink…” keep up the good work, it is great to be part of such a wonderful church!

No matter your opinion on immigration – whether you think people should be allowed in the country, whether you think they shouldn’t, whether you think illegals should be allowed to freely roam or if they should be severely punished – they are human beings with the basic right to life, and the essentials for it including food, clothing, shelter and water. It doesn’t matter how illegal they are or what they’re illegal for… the basic rights to life should never be taken away. I certainly don’t have a strong opinion on immigration either way… and in fact, would prefer that they take a legal path, as well. But the reality is that doesn’t really exist (this is a great illustration of that: http://www.nfap.com/pdf/0808reason.pdf). And I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same thing if I was faced with the same issue…
And a quick comment regarding pat e’s assertion, “The next time you read about an ILLEGAL alien who drove drunk and killed someone, got arrested for drugs, molested a child, or some other crime…..”
I don’t have exact statistics, but a great majority of the people who commit crimes are NOT illegal aliens… In fact, I know of dozens – even hundreds – of white, middle-class, legal citizens who do some pretty horrible things including drinking and driving, drugs, theft and various sexual crimes… and in your own backyard of southwest Minnesota. So next time your cousin or brother/sister or son or daughter who are legal citizens commit a crime, I hope and pray that you sleep well knowing that you had a hand in their lives. It’s a blatant fallacy (mistake in reasoning) of assuming that because one or two people do something or are a certain way, that the rest of the group do, or have something to do with it. Way to stereotype.

Thanks, Ali, for being the voice of reason. It is indeed very welcome. Every human being deserves respect, regardless of his or her life experiences. Ignorance has no boundaries.

No place did I say these people should be deprived of their basic right to life, and the essentials for it including food, clothing, shelter and water. What I am saying is what these five people did is illegal, like it or not. We just can’t pick and chose our laws no matter the reason, if we do that we create chaos. I’m not against any people as people. I’m against the concept of illegal immigration and open borders and the actions of all the people responsible for it. This is a huge problem for this country. Securing the border has to be the first step in healing this wound for all! Removing the reason for people to be in the desert would probably be better that assisting them to be there. So, know I am not against people just the actions of certain people and a lot of them are my own countrymen!

I have a boatload of argument points for my position. Here is a list of your arguments:
A bus of volunteers leaves in August. Beano, Deano & Pat should go.

I may over argue the issue, but you have said nothing to support your position, whatever that might be, besides attacking me. I doubt any of those half brains (your words) buy that!
