Skip the Prozac. Get your vitamin D level tested. Optimum range is 40 to 60 ng/mL of 25(OH)D. If you are low take D-3 in the gelcap form, not tablets. In our latitude an older adult will probably require 4,000 to 5,000 IU per day to maintain an adequate level. However at this time of the year you may need to take about 10,000 IU per day for the first month to build up your level. Correcting the deficiency takes time.
