Property owner complains about driveway removal

WORTHINGTON During their board meeting Tuesday, Nobles County Commissioners received a complaint from Mike Kunerth regarding the county’s removal of a driveway accessing a parcel he recently purchased in the southeast quarter of Section 20, Hersey Township. Continue Reading

You would think that the Commissioner(s) could talk to the property owner before the County took such action with complete disregard for the property owner. Such action seems to me, a disinterested party, to be arbitrary and capricious. The owner should talk to his attorney about that. Apparently, the property owner made the mistake of putting the property in his name instead of someone else’s? So, it appears to me that the County is saying that the right to have a driveway is based on who owns the property? What is the big problem with the County if they had left the driveway? And, if the commissioner is not sure how many driveways the property owner needs, why is he making the decision to eliminate one of them? Sounds like a personal thing with the commissioner or just bad judgment.

It’s really no suprise, commissioners who work FOR Mel Ruppert long enough are bound to act like they can do whatever they want and expect people to just take it.

Exactly, Pierre. However, the people HAVE endorsed their own fate by NOT stepping up to the plate and offering a better alternative. EVERYONE complains (and rightfully so) yet we see NO ONE running against these “lap dogs” they call commissioners. King Mel has the reigns in his hands and as long as no one does nothing more than complain, THAT will not change. King Mel has done NOTHING for the county. He is all about padding his own bank account by hook or crook. I would love nothing more than to see a full blown investigsation into his dealings, etc. And, to the person who lost a driveway????? If that’s what Mel wants, THAT’S what Mel gets. Don’t expect any of your elected commisssioners to stand up to him, there’s no backbone there.

And this is not the only person who has had an off experience with Nobles County Elite. Why would you remove something that is existing and causing no harm? Was it a snow trap? Or traffic hazard? It cost money out of a tight budget to remove this driveway and where is the benefit to taxpayers? Or did the poor landowner have to pay for something he surely didn’t want or need? The Nobles County Elite are not making sound decisions. Problem, anyone who is smart enough to run things isn’t dumb enough to run for the thankless position that is elected office in Nobles County! Truth is, Nobles County administrator is a big part of the problem. And the average citizen cant even see his contract! We got to pay him, but we dont know what is going on and cant even find out! Something funny going on there. Maybe our liberal governor should step in and eliminate all future contracts for public servants that are not elected. Let the current contracts expire, and not renew. Then go to a system of the best person for the job and pay them what they are worth compared to the results they produce! That is the way the average taxpayer gets paid. It is working for me, if I pulled some of those stunts, I would no longer be where I am. So of course, I dont try any shenanigans or foolishness. Checks and balances, part of government. The nobles county elite need to be educated and held accountable!

The citizens of nobles county need to speak up, tell your commissioners you have had enough of Mel Ruppert it is time to get rid of him.
Commissioners if you are reading these posts do what is right for this county, its citizens and its employees.

Are all of you registered to vote?
You don’t have to answer, but how did you vote last local elections?
Incumbent?
Register if you are not already registered and vote by absentee ballot or get your butts down to the voting booth next elections. Every vote counts. If you don’t believe me, google some recent elections.
Here is a link that will direct you to a download for a voter registration application.

I am really confused here. Why is it such a big deal to have driveways? We put an addition on our house and wanted a new driveway, we had to spend over 1K for the culvert and the driveway and then they want me to tear out my old driveway. Is there an ecological impact here that no one is aware of?
