Dem-commissioned poll: Heitkamp leads Berg by 5 points in U.S. Senate race

It seems to me that if there were a Republican poll stating that Rick Berg was in the lead by 5 points, The Herald would either ignore it outright, as any reputable news outlet would, or slam the poll as a GOP campaign tactic. I guess a Democrat poll stating that the Democrat candidate was the favorite slipped past the editorial board’s standard for newsworthy items, huh? What are the odds? I’m sure it was just an oversight.

I recently heard a quote, but I don’t know who it was from…..It went something like: “During the Cold War we worried that communism would destroy our way of life, but after the break up of the Soviet Union capitalism finished the job” That might not be the exact quote but the basic meaning…..And today’s politics is a prime example of the truth in that quote.

Well Heidi does have a huge advantage with her brother shilling for her on the radio everyday. There is no doubt of his hate for Berg, his personal agenda to destroy the man anyway he can. Weather you like Heidi or not, the unfortunate truth for the Republicans is that Berg has been virtually invisible since being elected to the House grabbing few headlines. Hoeven on the other hand has turned his accomplishments into positive headlines and should have no trouble being re-elected to the senate in 4 years. Moving Berg to the Senate race could backfire and potentially lose the Republicans both the House and Senate seats. Berg would have had a better chance to be re-elected to the House as an incumbent than to leap into the more prestigious senate race.

You’re right. Berg hasn’t done anything but follow instructions from John Boehner since he has been in the house. I believe he will not win the Senate seat because he has shown his true colors in the short time he has served. Generally, it’s smart to spend some time in one seat before you jump over into another. Berg is politically inexperienced and will live to regret his decision. Meanwhile, Heidi is a formidable opponent. She has made many friends in the state and could be a very effective Senator for ND.

North Dakotans are smarter than that. If we start being buried by out of state advertising supporting Berg’s radical agenda, people will understand what is happening. Heidi Heitkamp is the most genuine campaigner in the world; she’s a real person with the ability to do the job and a long track record of excellence in the state. She will be such a contrast to the slimey Berg that it will be clear who would stand with North Dakotans.
