Plans for golf club disclosed

Chris Hanson’s informal offer of 65 acres to the Hudson School District is contingent upon the city playing a major role in the deal – the city would have to agree to build a new street from the Plaza 94 shopping center to Carmichael Road for the offer to hold. Continue Reading

“The City would have to agree to build a new road” Translation, the tax payers will have to fund a new road. I don’t think so Mr. Hanson. If you want to change the rules of the game midway through then you better dig deep into your pocket to make it work.

Tax increment financing. The increased revenue from developing the land will pay for the improvements. The golf course is dead. Lets get some free school land and revenue generating businesses. It’s a win- win for Hudson. Too bad some are just too blind to see. Let someone else buy the Dog track and develop it creating more tax revenue. I don’t know about you people but I am taxed to death in Hudson.
Hot debate. What do you think?

psssst, here’s a dirtier secret. Every business in Hudson pays an Asset Tax yearly on everything they own in the confines of that business. Computers, TV’s, adding machines, copiers, desks, chairs and you name it. You get a visit by a city representative and they take a look around, hand you a form to be filled out by your accountant and you get a bill in the mail. Plus, if you happen to own the building you also pay some pretty stiff property taxes. The asset tax applies to renters of spaces also. I am not complaining about the tax but most people do not know about it and where it goes.
Any new business in Hudson is a boost for everyone. Any construction of a new street commercial or residential is a winner for taxpayers. I think the Hanson plan is an excellent idea and I am excited to see the plan draft.

Having another east/west street to Carmichael besides Vine and Coulee would be a great addition.

Just what we need – another traffic light on Carmichael.

Another traffic light on Carmichael? Oh…………….the horror….the horror….
It’s amazing what some people will complain about. A chance to add jobs and reduce our taxes and they complain about another stoplight. Amazing.

Building another school does not reduce our taxes. Adding business does not reduce our taxes. Hudson has quadrupled since the 70′s and my taxes aren’t going down.

When your tax bills come out. Might I suggest every one take a close look at them. I have been looking closer and closer every year. The City of Hudson has not raised out taxes. And from what I am hearing they are not again this year. I guess we will have confirmation of this at this weeks City Council meeting. Where I believe they are talking about the budget. But really take a good look. Your taxes are increasing because of our School Board and their mismanagement of fund. A new school would be lovely but let’s now lose sight of the possible price tag. The first referendum is for JUST THE PURCHASE of the land 8.5 million and if your house is assessed at 250,000 you will have a tax increase of 22.50 a year for the next 18 years. Well then they will have to build the school and then there will be more space which means more staff. I will guess our taxes will go up 500 dollars a year. Remember school don’t pay property tax. The school board will pass this and then expect the City and County Boards to work within their means to try and not add any more pressure to our pocket books. I have a concern regarding where the school is built. My concern is not about where but more the end cost and from what I have learned we will not have those answers when this referendum comes to the polls on April 3rd. I don’t think it is fair to vote blindly. It is our jobs to get the information so when we vote we know what we are voting for.
