I understand why schools are going to healthier options, but I think they are starting to take it way too far. I’ve started to notice my son coming home and immediately raiding the kitchen because he was hungry. I asked what he had for lunch and he said nothing because what they were serving that day was gross. I looked at the menu for the month and I even wouldn’t eat half the stuff they serve. Kids need to eat to stay focused but when they are skipping lunch they won’t be able to.
When I was in high school over in the Twin Cities, I was able to choose a healthier option, a cheeseburger, pizza, or go buy junk food from the ala carte line. Our kids are no longer given the option to decide for themselves what they want to eat.
I just want to government to get out and let me decide what is best for my family!

I’m all for healthier school lunches, but nutrition alone will not help keep our kids from getting fat. They need more physical activity. More recess, more phy-ed, less time sitting at a desk or in front of the TV, whether they’re at school or at home.
