EDITORIAL: Carrying concealed goes to extremes

Like teenagers who just started to notice the attractions of the opposite sex, a lot of Wisconsinites have gone crazy over guns lately. Continue Reading

Yours could be one of the plain dumbest pieces I ever read here. First of all you ask what people fear that would make them want to have a permit to carry. I ask why would you fear anyone who takes the time and effort to legally carry a firearm? It’s the person who doesn’t follow the law that I would fear. Also, just because someone gets a permit doesn’t mean they will always be packing heat. People have always been able to openly carry weapons, how many have you seen toting a .45 around? Finally, many states have similar laws, yet you cite no statistic that would support your premise that this state will somehow be a bullet ridden wild west show. It works everywhere else without problems, it will work here too.

This article is full of so many false assumptions, irrational fears, and just plain ignorance, that I don’t know where to start, or have enough space to respond to all of them. I suggest that instead of fear mongering, or guessing, just look at the experiences of the other 48 states that have gone before us, and hang your head in shame for being completely emotional in your article. None of the 48 other states have reversed their CCW laws during the last 20 years ( in some cases), but have strengthened the armed citizens’ rights to personal protection by loosening the restrictions. Do yourself a huge service the next time you right an article, it’s called RESEARCH!! Unless statistics and facts don’t matter.

“Our big question is this: What is it that these new gun-toting citizens fear?”
You, and the Catholic bishops, could ask any of the hundred or so members of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, who weren’t killed by an active killer because CHL Jeane Assam was carrying and stopped him.
