Why is it so difficult for some people to just be happy for someone else, someone who’s likely had a much more difficult life that we can ever imagine? I applaud her and her family for their hard work and accomplishments.
Why jump to the conclusion that this young lady’s arrival in the US was the result of “uncontrolled migration (sic)”? She’s as proud of her native country and her heritage as anybody who displays a German, Norwegian, Swedish, Irish or Dutch flag or follows their homeland’s traditions. Does doing so make them any less American?
Deano – your comments only further prove what she said. The article wasn’t designed to “convince you” or anyone else whose mind is already made up. One should not paint everyone with the same broad brush, or over-generalize. She doesn’t look threatening to me or my way of life. Nor is she a threat to yours. Just be happy for her.

What an amazing, bright young lady that we are very fortunate to have as part of our community.
I really admire your mom who didn’t let some stinkin’ language barrier stand in the way of helping you with your homework.
Don’t let the haters bring you down to their pathetic level.
Bigotry and judgment are the height of insecurity.
