Determined women use solar power

When I was growing up, my father was fond of saying “You’ve got to make hay while the sun shines.” He knew something about that; he was raised on a farm.
My daughter makes meals while the sun shines. Sometimes when I get home from work, I’m greeted with roasts, potatoes and brownies she’s cooked baked in her solar oven. Continue Reading

Rebecca will arrive in Fond-des-Blancs tomorrow (Sunday, October 6, 2011) afternoon. I live here. It is the absolute safest place in Haiti! I’ve seen all the boxes with the solar ovens. I expect she will have a wonderful time here. It is not too late for you ( Naomi Yaeger-Bischoff) to make the trip. My mother is 87 and she will arrive in Haiti next week. Your visit would certainly link the two generations of Yaeger-Bischoff women. I will make sure Rebecca gets access to the Internet to send you a note. Thanks for supporting her passion for Haiti.

Hi Jean Thomas,
I’m so glad to see that you saw this column. How did you find it?
Will you be working with Rebecca and the rest?

I am notified by Google whenever there is an article published anywhere that mentions Fond-des-Blancs.
I will see Rebecca and the others and visit with them. They will hold their presentations in our school yard (www.hcdf.org) but our field director, Jean Francois, is the person most directly responsible for the coordination of this solar energy seminar.
I have been told that Rebecca and the others have arrived safely in Haiti and will be on their way to Fond-des-Blancs in the morning.

Rebecca and the rest of the group completed their first day of work and demonstration of the solar ovens yesterday. The participants were very impressed. The sun was out all day and the cooked food tasted great. I will see if she can get to the Internet today or tomorrow to send a note. They are so dedicated; they were at work at 5:30 AM yesterday!

Thank you Jean Thomas.
It is exciting to hear that hey are at work.
Rebecca phoned me yesterday afternoon. She told me she helped distribute about 70 ovens.
