‘Today’ visits 60 Jamestown spots for TV segment
October 22, 2011 at 1:52 am in The Jamestown Sun
the sun set Friday in Jamestown, a television camera operator wrapped up a long day of capturing the Buffalo City for a national audience.
Zahira Collazo, director of photography for “Today in America,” spent her day traveling around town and visited 60 different locations. Her last shot was of children playing on the playground at Frontier Village.

I see the lies are still going on. The article says the mayor said Jamestown has 16,000 people. The fact is that it’s 15,427. If you want to round the figure, you would round DOWN, but of course Jamestown always has to spin everything.
Jamestown hasn’t had 16,000 people for 30 years, and it’s continuing to drop.
Jamestown spend $19,000 of taxpayer money to promote itself as something it will never be: a growing city of 16,000.
Hot debate. What do you think?

Clearly something is being manipulated here. How does Bill suddenly acquire 41 negative votes? I don’t ever recall anyone getting 41 votes for anything, and he picks up the vast majority of those in a few hours this afternoon.
Any explanations from the people in the know???

The problem is, you have a mayor who would rather spend $19,000 on a distortion, telling people the population is much higher than it is. Sewer work isn’t a high priority.
I think voters should question the integrity of any leader who flat out lies about size of Jamestown.
Another thing, the article says Today in America “visited”, actually they were paid to come. Quit spinning it like they selected Jamestown because of it’s qualities. For $19,000 almost anyone will show up.

Fred, how much would it take to get you to stop visiting? I think it would be worth every penny!!
The fact is, Jamestown does have a lot to offer for tourism and the outdoors. Also guess what?!? That $19,000 came from money allocated for tourism that would have never found its way into a fund for the sewer system.
Get off your negative propaganda bandwagons about Jamestown. As many have said before, Jamestown is a great place to raise a family, my 3 children love it here!

I deal in facts, not propaganda. Truth is, it’s the distortion that comes out of Jamestown that I’m trying to correct.
So you think the Mayor’s claim of 16,000 people is fact, and my correction that the town had only 15,427 at the last census is “propaganda”? Please do explain, I can’t wait to hear.

It wasn’t a simple question of rounding. The actually number is closer to 15,000 than 16,000, so if she wanted to round, she should have went DOWN.
Of course, the Jamestown way to to exaggerate everything. I’m sure the rest of the program is filled with the same falsehoods.
