People haven’t learned that there are just some buildings in the area that business’s haven’t survived in.
Hot debate. What do you think?

We had a party of 6 go the first month they opened it was horrible very poor service and poor food , got 25% off the bill but never did get our drinks and we got to watch 1 person eat after everyone else was done because they kept saying the plate was coming.
None of us went back.

Great old building – bad service and food. I hope someone who has a good sense of the area and how to run a restaraunt opens up there. Anderson Outpost was more of a bar that happened to serve food so that model was flawed from the start. Then naming it a brewery but not brew anything also did not help.

It is sad to see any business close down. Give the owners credit for giving it a try. Alexandria has too many restaurants the way that it is. Until the economy turns around opening a restaurant here may not be a good idea.

They didn’t brew anything? That’s a surprise.
I wonder if we’re ‘over restaurants’ as well like Ginger states. If my wife and I went out to a different area restaurant every other week (not counting fast food places), it seems like it’d be hard to support any of them enough for it to matter. It’d also be rough on my IRA savings!
Short listing that I know will miss a lot:
Angelina’s, Doolittles, Bennigans, Fat Daddy’s, Tennessee Roadhouse, Geneva Golf Club, Arrowwood, Bug-A-Boo Bay, Bella’s on Broadway, Mi Mexico, Interlachen, Traveler’s Inn, Corral Supper Club, Weston Station, 6th Avenue Wine and Ale, Brass Lantern, Jan’s Place, Great Hunan.
I also left out places in Glenwood like Torgy’s by the Lake and know there are some other ones a few miles out that I missed but are restaurant quality.
I excluded places that are bars with food, fraternal orgs like the Elks and VFW and they’re popular too, or ones that are more diners than restaurants but also have good food. Ex. D Michael B’s, Perkins, Ruby’s Red Eye Grill, the Downtown Diner, Northwoods Cafe, and Godfather’s with their dine-in options.
It’s always a tough market for food establishments and the recent failures weren’t people who had money and lacked experience. Doolittles had to dump the airplane theme to make it and Tennessee Roadhouse changed their theme already as well.
This might be a potential EP story if they care to dig: Does Alexandria have too many restaurants for this population to support? Lately it seems like it’s been a battle from Mad Max: 1 restaurant enters, another 1 leaves.
Off topic: While Jerry Haberer and I disagree on darn near everything, I saw the website for 6th Avenue while writing this post and it is nicely designed.

I only used the name because it listed his name as the designer of the 6th Ave Wine and Ale website. I didn’t think that paying someone a compliment on a non-political or controversial matter would be an issue for anybody.

No issue here.
Just stated that I haven’t seen that name in some time.
