The Red in GF is twice the size of the Red in in Fargo & more treacherous. The Red Lake River is more the size of the Red in Fargo making it better for canoeing. I believe the Assinaboine River In Winnipeg is the location of the non-power boat activity which is about the size of the Red in Fargo & therefore more amenable to canoeing. Bottom line is a canoe base would be best located on the Red Lake River in EGF then if people wanted to continue into the Red itself they could. Of course low water times make the Red itself more usable in terms of safety.
