This really appalls me….although technically spanking your child is not considered abuse, I think this is excessive and the small article did not mention the boys relationship to the ‘abuser’. I know growing up I got a spank when I did something that put me in danger, or others in danger, but at 12, I don’t feel physical punishment is effective. My question is, if this episode was so severe (15 minutes?? Serious bruising?) what has he been doing before this? Are their other children in the home? This is something that will weigh on my mind for a while. Unbelievable……

Chances are really good that one day that 12 year old will grow up and beat his children as well. Not because of this 15 minute beating but all the previous ones not reported. May even turn the tables on the abuser one day.
