Hamilton, Schomacker visit for ‘Reform 2.0′
WORTHINGTON District 22B Rep. Rod Hamilton and District 22A Rep. Joe Schomacker, accompanied by Minnesota House Majority Leader Matt Dean, were in town Thursday for “Reform 2.0,” a public session which focused on gathering local input on three core areas health care, local government and schools. Did the constituents do all the talking? Reading the article, you don’t find any responses from the politicians – except for Dean who talks about “first class cities in other parts of the state” (nice). I’d be very interested to hear how these elected officials answered – if they answered at all. Or do they need time to go back to check the party-line talking points?
I especially liked this comment: “It is important to understand every part of the state — not only urban but rural as well,” Hamilton said. That’s big of you, Rod… just whom are you representing? We EXPECT you to speak for us “non-urban” folks.
The Globe needs to pursue these politicians to get responses and reactions, and publish a follow up story so we know where they stand and if they’re going to do anything to address these concerns. Simply coming to town to LISTEN doesn’t cut it.

I am glad that the area’s local leaders showed up and voiced their concerns but I can’t help but feel as if it’s a waste of time asking Republican’s for what they consider a hand out on services that the public needs. Republicans ideology is that it’s up to churches and community to meet the needs of others.
For true change, these Republican’s, Rod Hamilton, Joe Schomacker and Matt Dean need to be voted out of office and replaced with Democrats who give a rip about schools, disabled Americans and mental health and fight for the rights for them.
I really wish District 518 Superintendent John Landgaard would come to meetings armed with facts and figures instead of how he worded it here. Facts and figures are more effective in my opinion.
Hot debate. What do you think?

Both parties are infected with big business, term limits are needed..

It tells me that your comment has nothing to do with this story. But, I’ll take the bait.
Let’s assume you’re correct… please cite your source, as the information differs considerably from fundraising reports I’ve seen in the last day or two.

It should tell you that both parties are equally beholding to big money\business. Just google it and you will see that most of the big financial corps that were bailed out were his biggest donors. Translation; the people lose either way; one party sucks as bad as the other! Term limits may be a step in the right direction, arguing about which party is right is fruitless. Remember, For The People, not the corporation or union or big money or anything except the People!
