More than 400 people cheered and applauded the newly inducted members of the Yankton Sioux Tribe Business and Claims Committee Friday in Wagner.
Speakers expressed the importance of leadership, unity and a stronger government.
Incoming chairman Thurman Cournoyer Sr. stated he plans to bring the tribal council back to a place of honor by providing transparency, better law and policy enforcement and promoting the tribe’s heritage. The tribal government is moving into a new headquarters in Wagner Monday.
