He should start by resigning. Funny isnt it, such a hard stance all summer and now that reality sets in…. Not such a great move, was it?

The union should just sign the agreement. They have no leverage in this market. There are too many people out of work – including them – and management holds the upper hand. The union is acting in a manner that is not beneficial to itself.

“Hurt called for an end to the lockout of sugar beet workers and urged the corporation to negotiate in good faith. ”
umm….what fantasyland is this guy living in? the NLRB just confirmed the corporation has been negotiating in good faith, and HE and the union hasn’t. what a douche.
can i say that? i guess we’ll find out.

I have to wonder how many of the people that are out of work right now are liking the union now? This is certainly not helping them pay the bills!!

We all pretty much know what fantasyland he’s living in. I also liked his quote about how “the union won’t be the entity to give in to an unfair deal”. While on the surface, (and to the “union mindset” unfamiliar), he sounds firm, honorable, and convicted to the cause. The kicker, (of course), is that the union wants to DEFINE what’s fair and unfair. They do it every day. They want to write the rules. They want everyone else to fall in line. It’s ridiculous, hilarious, and sad….all at the same time. I can’t help but feel sorry for the employees. Back when they “overwhelmingly rejected” the final offer with 96% of the votes, we shouldn’t kid ourselves about how overwhelming the vote REALLY was. There’s no doubt in my mind that the union “leadership” led them to believe that ACS would “have to” give in. Oddly enough, I *kind of* feel sorry, (to a MUCH lesser degree mind you), for the “leadership” too….including Mr. Hurt. I have to believe that, (unless these guys are completely devoid of brain activity), they realize some of what escapes from their lips during interviews is contradictory at best, and completely falls apart when examined with any sort of objectivity. And yet, to do their job(s) they have to keep regurgitating the same well-rehearsed stuff, no matter how silly it seems…

I really should not even be speaking. However I know how the union works, and I know how we all have to be responsible for our own actions. You have people out east protesting big corporations..etc…cant blame them, I worked for union and I worked for big corportation. Really thought my dad would disown me when I signed on the dotted line with the union…wow he never…Union has good things…I am very good friends in my mind with the local union president and I dont think there is anyone better at the job then him. I feel sorry for the workers. I will tellyou my story…I left big corporation to join small time guy…ah pay not so good…benifits were awesome..you show up for work you get paid…dont show up for work, you dont get paid….(this day and age that is a big benifit) I try not to buy from “walmart” anymore then I have to…I check out the clearance isle ever chance I get…but that is about it. Work for union…that is still big corporation. After many discussions with union president, I tell him union is for the lazy man….he disagree and tell me many things that the union does not stand for. He actually convinced me. Tom is one of the best people for being union president I have ever known. He is true blue union and he is true blue fair.. I no longer work for union or big corporation. I work for a large small time guy, and he treats me well. very well. If people could unite, like the union idea, it would be great, could you imagine what would happen if truckers shut down and pulled the keys?????? It would shut this world down in less then a week. So i walk the line, I walk the line that can see both sides…..cyrstal sugar people, I am sorry, but if you want to pay the bills and stay where you are at….check with a local farmer who will pay you much less…more then likely..I happen to find a local farmer that pays me more then was I was getting as a union employee…I am rare, my ship came in…and at that time I was not at the train station where I usually spend my time. I am very rare, but my life evolves around farm life, so I am ever so content. Its my life. Even the boss man and I get into it at times…in fact I was a lil upset with him a few weeks ago…told him I just give my 2 weeks…omg it was at the shop..the lil bugger beat me to my house…we had a few beers and talked about it and I am still employed..but maybe you union guys want to consider what I did, I heard the jobs out in the oil fields pay well and always hiring…..suit yourself….we all have to live with whatever choices we make!
