Do you think the Democrat legislators got back from the Progressive Sumit in time to get to work?
I wonder what they thought of SEIU’s Stephen Lernier speech where he told people to: “…escalate protests, break laws, occupy abandoned houses and spread the crisis all over US…”
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/we-are-heroes-who-need-to-create-a-crisis-seiu-stephen-lerner-at-progressive-summit-tells-unions-community-organizers-and-students-they-need-to-escalate-protests-break-laws-occupy-abandon-houses/
I’m trying to hunt down the Democrat equivalent to ALEC….the organization that writes Democrat legislation….I think Doyle used a bunch of their stuff. I’ve heard the name, but can’t remember it….
Hey, where’s the initials of the cat food-eating disabled/elderly person and the name of a community group he/she belongs to you claim doesn’t have money for food…I’m still waiting for you to put truth behind your allegations. I’ve got my checkbook out, just need the initials and a group to act as the go-between. You ARE telling the truth…..aren’t you?

You an independent? Is switching political position to appear neutral the latest Think Progress tactic? hahahaha….that’s a good one…
I suggest you start listening to Jason Lewis from 5-8 pm weekday evenings to get some honest, neutral, economic education. He takes on both the D and R economic policies and is more than happy to have intelligent conversation with those who disagree with him.
The last time a country had small government with little regulation…and it worked….Lewis mentioned this the other day. You’re fortunate to live in it…although a 100 years too late. Since then we’ve had a government regulated free market, which doesn’t work. Get the govt out of the free market, let companies fail, quit putting mandates on health insurance (I don’t want to pay for alcohol abuse recovery program coverage when I don’t drink), etc.
The free market is handcuffed with regs and can’t function. Here’s the latest exmple: the fed gov is going after some ND oil companies for the death of less than 30 migratory birds found on their properties….but ignores the 300,000+ dealths of migratory birds (including many protected raptors) caused by wind turbines each year. Make sense?
You rail against the voucher system based on the progressive email alerts you get. Ryan’s voucher plan would GIVE each senior money to purchase their own insurance. If the senior chooses insurance that costs less than what the govt gave, the senior KEEPS the difference. If the senior wants a more premium plan that covers more…yes, that person may have to pay out of pocket. No different than buying a basic car versus a luxury car….everyone has different levels of need, but people also have different levels of WANTS.
Keep in mind, health insurance studies have proven the less the deductible, the more people go to the doctor. Kid gets sore throat and your plan has $100 deductible….run to DR; sore throat and plan has $1000 deductible….gargle with salt water and give it a day or two to see what happens.
Ryan’s plan also covered the low-income people whose insurance need costs were more than the voucher with additional assistance. You want to tax the rich, don’t you also think the “rich” should be able to afford their premium health insurance plan? I would think you would be 110% behind the Ryan plan based on your “tax the rich” stance. Think Progress and the email alerts from Nancy Pelosi and the DNCC don’t tell the entire story….I know, I’ve gotten them…and one of their scare tactics is the “cat-food” threat….you are so gullible.
I’m still working on getting the name of the Democrat equivalent of alec….I heard it when I was listening to an WI public radio program on voter fraud. Ms Dunn was interviewing a guy from the Heritage foundation on 9-77-2011. He mentioned it in response to a caller towards the end of the program. Back to you on that.
You an independent….that’s going to provide a chuckle for the entire day….

I learned a new word today…”Moby”:
“An insidious and specialized type of left-wing troll who visits blogs and impersonates a conservative [gs: in the case of alec, or an independent] for the purpose of either spreading false rumors intended to sow dissension among conservative voters, or who purposely posts inflammatory and offensive comments for the purpose of discrediting the blog in question.”
I don’t plagarize like another poster does, so here is the Urban Dictinary link; I think the history of the word is interesting.

Will arguing back and forth solve any problems? No. The conversations on the boards across the Rivertowns papers has become boring and predictable. If you REALLY want to make a difference, run for office or go out and campaign. Whining and complaining on blogs is a waste of everyone’s time. No one cares or wants to read your constant bickering. I highly doubt you are reaching the audience you think you are to persuade the public opinion one way or another. Get a life!
Hot debate. What do you think?

Is it worse to bicker back and forth on a blog, or to comment on how bad the bickering is on a blog, while on that blog?

“By the way, pay your taxes and be proud when you do (or get out).” Be carefull with that statement, we are getting very close to were over 50% of this nation has no federal income tax liability, and if you ask those that do pay to leave, who would be left? Speaking of talking points, did you get those from http://www.attackwatch.com? The rich may have the lowest tax rate in 70 years, but they pay the largest percentage of the tax collected pie. And if you look at historical numbers, the higher the taxes go, the more the poor pay into the system. It is quite a double edged sword. I keep hearing we need to go back to Clinton era rates, doing this would mean our bottom income rate would go up 50%! Why do Democrats hate poor people? Considering they are there biggest voting block. HAve you read the barstool economics in regards to who pays taxes in this country?

when you cut-and-paste from articles you should have the decency and respect to credit the writer.
this is a paste from the following article. I don’t have time to figure out if this is the only article you copied or not….but all I need is one example to prove to myself your dishonesty….
” Social Darwinism, a social philosophy that promoted an intolerant attitude towards the less successful, enjoyed great popularity among the upper classes and encouraged their excesses.”

I didn’t notice you also copied the next sentance:
“Social Darwinism, a social philosophy that promoted an intolerant attitude towards the less successful, enjoyed great popularity among the upper classes and encouraged their excesses. Many large enterprises employed their own militias, hired Pinkerton agents to police their plants and mills, and created self-contained communities to control their workforce.”

Here is the barstool economics, easily found online. Remember, the rich are our enemy, right?
“Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.
“Since you are all such good customers”, he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20″. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men – the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his “fair share?”
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
“I only got a dollar out of the $20,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, “but he got $10!”
“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I!”
“That’s true!!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!”
“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!”
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
This is of course a light hearted way to poke fun at “the system”, but still yet an interesting look at the North American tax system. It also observes how we can sometimes get caught up in our own worlds such that we lose sight of the forest through the trees. “

Thank you for the response. The reason that ss taxes are capped is because ss is not welfare, it is based upon lifetime earnings and credits. If you raise that amount, the payouts for those above that amount increase, where at this point it is capped as too how much one can receive from ss. Sales tax, gas tax and fees are all monies we choose to pay. You can avoid sales tax by buying second hand, avoid gas taxes by not driving and fees by not purchasng those items with those fees. Also, all those taxes you write about do not care what income level you are, you use it, you pay it. Fox talking points? Those that have no skin in the game, do not care if there neighbor has to pay more. I beg to differ with you in regards to the tea party andyour portrayal of them being slave members and accepting what is given to them. That would be the largest democratic voting block, the poor. They have been paid just enough over the last half century to keep quiet and be good little democratic voters. I would have to say that the most dangerous situation would be trying to take away someones government entitlement, much more than taking more of my paycheck to pay for those who feel entitles to my earnings. One more thing, who is more greedy? Me working my tail off to provide for my family first, or the person who expects me to work my tail off to provide for them as well?

good on-topic comment alec…or is it ALEC? Obviously you’ve never been self-employed and lived with the reality of working 8-18 hour days, 7-days a week. I’d like to hire someone….but I won’t because of Obamacare.
I tend to agree with TAP, there is little substance in your posts so little reason to promptly respond. I have spent time this weekend researching the other state legislature group, and I’ve been trying to research who are the members and how is the group financed, incredibly difficult info to locate.
ps: while your social observations were interesting; your first comment regarded the free market. I think Lewis refers to himself as a libertarian, and since you’re so sure of your economic opinion why don’t you call Lewis and have a discussion with him?
Why don’t you give us the examples of big government economics working. China is sorta a “communist free-market” system. From your arguments, no one in that system is in need. How about the former Soviet Union? Definately big government. How’d that work out? You could always move to Cuba…another big government country. Where else could alec/ALEC move to enjoy a big government country?

Alec, in Jan 2001, there were 132.5 million jobs. We went through the dot com bubble and the 9/11 attacks. Jan 2003 there were 130.2 million jobs. In January of 2008 we peaked at 137.9 million jobs. Then we had another bubble burst known as the housing bubble. Our economy goes from one bubble to the next. Our current President was banking on the Green bubble to raise the economy, that did not work. Alec, are you one of these infamous paid posters I hear about? And how does one get this job, because if I can make money off of making you look rather silly and infantile, that would be great!
