The NHL team will practice Monday and Tuesday before opening the regular season Oct. 8 at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Continue Reading

I was at the North Stars v. Blues preseason game at the old DECC. It was fantastic, and sadly it was the last year of the North Stars. Hopefully the Amsoil/DECC staff can make it happen.

I remember watching the North Stars vs. Team USA at the DECC. I still have the marketing poster that they distributed all over town “The DECC Will Be Stacked!”. I think having the Wild play a preseason game at Amsoil is a great idea, but it only holds half of what the X holds, will ownership be OK with that? To me it should be close to a wash, a sold out Amsoil vs. a half-full preseason game at the X is the same # of people.

Why have a practice in Amsoil if its closed to the public?

They are doing a “team bonding” thing out of town without the distractions of home before the season starts.

Kevin Pates had a little more info about this back in August.

Thanks Dan and Tom for giving us the key missing details that this “reporter” left out. I was also wondering why on earth would the Wild travel all the way to Duluth just to have closed practices. Rodeo at the X?

Mike Hockerts – “… all the way to Duluth.” Come on! 150 mi or 3 hrs, however you want to split it is nothing when you’re an NHL franchise. This is PR afterall and the owners need it. Duluth is in Minnesota afterall – even if it is a border city. LOL I remember going to Madison Square Garden with Papa and brother in law (from Alabama!) to watch the North Stars v Rangers. I must’ve been the only North Stars fan in my UMD jacket with North Stars jersey. All good fun though because New Yorkers are the most hospitable people on earth.

GO WILD!!
Looking forward to a great season. These guys skate hard, play 60 minutes of hockey, and do the fans proud!
(unlike some other Minnesota teams I could mention)
