This is no suprise whatsoever.I think as far back as the Bush -Gore presidential debates of 2000 the idea had been for the US government to sponser and heavily regulate care givers and day care workers. And when you bring up the idea of unionizing it, guess what? Do you think the level and quality of care would go up or would it go down?
Well it would proceed on two different levels, unionized (highly regulated) and more unregulated for those caregivers pushed underground.Those going underground of purposefully flying under the radar (of any govt scrutiny) would make it more dangerous to the children under their care and to the child’s parents.
Another thing is worjking parents can’t afford day care now (as Gore said in the 2000 debates). How will they afford unionized caregivers?
