A laughable and offensive self-serving revision of history. In contrast to the pope’s dishonest account, the Vatican (along with Lutheran influences) had a huge role in the genesis of the holocaust. While many catholics are good people who do good things, their leadership has been, and is, morally corrupt on a grand scale — and continually dishonest in its apologies for the misery and mayhem it has wreaked over the centuries. Given the huge migration of European Catholics out of the Church, especially in traditional strongholds such as Spain, I think he’ll be doing a lot of traveling to effect damage control. Probably way too late, though.
