Did they rehire staff that was laid off prior, or might have had their hours cut? If not, they should be mad, and make use of that great teachers unions they belong to.

When asked about this last week at the committee meeting Bill Hanson addressed this. There are about 30 teachers currently on the recall list and they get first choice on these positions if they have qualifications. In the recent hirings at some of the elementary schools, they hired outside because none of the teachers on the recall list have certifications to let them teach kindergarten (or they made the choice not to teach Kindergarten).
