Canal Park scene inspires international photographer

International freelance photographer Nick Otto was visiting Duluth in July when he saw a group of young people gathered off Canal Park in Lake Superior on top of the concrete structure known as the Cribs, or Uncle Harvey’s Mausoleum.

That’s a great place to swim. You can swim underneath the front of it and it’s nothing but sand on the bottom and only about 12 feet deep. I never liked the top though. Not enough room to walk and god help you if you fall down into the middle through the rectangular holes.
