Standafer says county is ‘fine’ under new Wisconsin budget
September 8, 2011 at 5:04 am in Hudson Star-Observer
St. Croix County Board Chair Daryl Standafer said the county is operating “fine” under the new rules created under Gov. Walker’s Act 10. He made the comments at the weekly meeting of the Hudson Thursday Noon Rotary Club. Continue Reading

So when you graduated HS (I assume), why didn’t you pursue further education so you could get a job in banking to make the big money (along with accepting the job responsibilities)? Your lifelong decisions have brought you to this point…. why are you so critcal of other’s success, when you had many of the same opportunities?
Obama loves Wall Street bankers and investors, just look at all the money he is getting from them for his re-election attempt:

I see the regular left wingnuts are out again. Alice, Popeye, Daminal/Alec did any of you even read this? He comments on how the county is curently contracted with its employees through 2012 and how SCC was able to work with the cuts in state aid. You folks seem to think the world has ended. Look around you, are things really as bad as you continue to rant? Is cutting budgets and tax rates really going to cause the world to end? What sevices have we actually lost? I agree with Standafer, we’ll be fine.

the liberal “civility” exposed again. Hate much?
BTW: those tea partiers who you claim receive “public assistance” are actually receiving what was promised to them when they contributed to SS as workers….the same benefits Obama will receive IF SS is still around when he reaches retirment age.
Why don’t you hate professional athletes….does union membership trump the RICH card? Is that why unionistas protest over paying their fair share while having their dues money pay mega-salaries to state and national union leaders? Marty Bell, of WI AFSCME, made $161,847 in 2008. Walker makes $144,423.

I’m reading Coulter’s “Demonic” because liberals make NO sense. From page 35 of the book:
“Liberals’ renowned indisposition to analogies is another classic example of mob thinking. Where normal people see blinding contradictions, liberals see only placid consistency. Le Bon explains that mobs are perfectly capable of holding completely contradictory ideas at the same time because according to circumstances, “a crowd will come under the influence of one of the various ideas stored up in its understanding, and is capable, in consequence, of committing the most dissimilar acts. Its complete lack of critical spirit does not allow ot its perceiving these contradictions.”(1)
…Only the Democratic Party could produce a string of presidential candidates who oppose school choice and vouchers while sending their own children to lily-white schools.
…Only liberals could tolerate a windbag like Al Gore lecturing the rest of us about our carbon footprint while he flies his private jet from energy-guzzling mansion to energy-guzzling mansion–just one of which consumes 20 times the energy of the average American home. (4)”
NO sense…..

Hey Alec, Medicare and Social Security aren’t public assistance their meatball. Public assistance means you are getting something that you didn’t pay for such as welfare. I realize you don’t have a great grasp of knowledge since you just like to rant about rich people. Idiots like you should all move to Cuba and let the people who want to work and be successful have a pleasant existence here in the US where you get what you work for.

Why don’t you check with the St Croix Co residents in these stats from Dec. 10, 2010? There is a link between these stats and needed CB reform. I’m sure these people have suggestions on living within financial means.
•Unemployment rose from 5.5 percent in 2008 to 6.2 percent in 2009.
•The poverty rate grew from 5.6 percent to 6.8 percent.
•Median household income fell by $1,014, or 1.5 percent.

I am a homeowner/taxpayer in St. Croix County, too. What’s your point… we should continue taking income from working people?

And you might want to check with the vast majority of private sector workers who’ve been taking pay cuts, freezes or lay offs the past 5+ years while Doyle and the rest of the liberals were taking part of their incomes to pay for Union benefits. It’s about fricking time the public sector starts sacrificing.

Oh, yes, clearly we need to continue taking income and benefits away from working people (private and public). That’ll increase demand and get the economy churning again.
When will enough be enough?

The government is already taxing the rich. Tax the 50% who aren’t paying ANY taxes.

What? Are you trying to say the “rich” don’t pay enough of those same taxes? What so many on the left can’t see is the fact that taxes (regardless who’s paying them) are being used to support so many things that aren’t needed. Everybody wants to talk about the federal taxes – forget about them. Clean up the local mess first. Why are we spending tax dollars to support a nursing home we don’t need? Close it down and we’ll reduced the tax burden by probably more than $5 million dollars.

Please show exactly how “the working poor” pay a higher rate of income tax than others. Break it down by category. I don’t buy your argument.
Also, we don’t tax people based on wealth. People are taxed based on income.

This exchange got me curious. I suggest reading the entire linked article because I didn’t copy all the important points. The entire tax system is messed up; time to simplify and remove all the gimmicks.
“For 50 percent of those that don’t pay federal income taxes, standard deductions and personal exemptions are enough to counteract their taxable earnings. A couple with two children earning less than $26,400, for example, will pay no federal income tax in 2011 because their $11,600 standard deduction and four exemptions of $3,700 cuts their taxable income to nil.
22 percent are senior citizens who get a more generous standard deduction, can exclude some or all of their Social Security income and may have tax-exempt interest from mutual funds and municipal bonds. For those who itemize, charitable contributions and medical expense deductions also subtract from their tax liability.
15 percent are working families, many of them low-income, who qualify for one or all of the Earned Income tax credit, the Child tax credit, the Child and Dependent Care tax credit. The earned-income credit is fully refundable, and the Child credit is partially refundable this year, meaning some households may get refunds from the government even if they owe no income taxes.

So in your world it’s wrong to “insult and attack and smear the poster.” (from your post: Alice Riley said: On September 11, 2011 at 10:41 AM , “Wisconsin’s senators, congressmen respond to Obama’s new job plan”)
BUT; Obama civility rules allow “Should we talk more about Turdblossoms group? Hahahahahahaha!!!”
At least your language is SLIGHTLY better than Jimmy Hoffa’s Labor day speech in Detroit. (“Let’s take these sobs out”). An interesting look at the president of the Teamsters speech. Obama took the stage right after Hoffa was done, and expressed approval!
