Anybody my age who still possesses his faculties remembers the moment of hearing about the President’s assassination. We remember the school assemblies, the families gathered around the TV, the pall cast over Thanksgiving, the dates we missed because activities were cancelled for a week or so.
“Where were you when the Twin Towers were attacked?” has replaced “Where were you when Jack Kennedy was shot?” just as it had replaced “Where were you when Pearl Harbor got attacked?”
