Derrick Radke and his fiancé were out for a relaxing weekend on the Mississippi River. They had boated to Prescott from Hastings and had pulled up to shore, where they were going to pitch a tent.

You mean that there was no alternative … no place like a zoo or wild life place that would take in a nice, tame gator?? Did they even check around?? Just shoot the poor trusting thing?? I DO understand that a mean, aggressive animal must be shot, but this was apparently a very trusting creature.
