Just another instance of how very quickly some folks forget exactly WHO fought for them and their freedoms that they enjoy. The military funeral rights are the very last thing that we as a society can do to honor and remember the vets who fought for us. This goes along with giving our vets the very best of care that we can and yet, the veteran benefits seem to be one of the very first things that are cut each and every time a budget issue comes to the forefront. What about giving our vets the dignity and respect that they so heartily deserve on the day that we lay them to rest? I wonder what would have happened of all those who have served our country proudly would have said, “nope, I’m sorry, I can’t go because my family needs me to support and feed them, I can’t go to war for you.” There were many families that were put to a great test to simply survive while their loved ones went to war for our country?
In my humble opinion, our veterans deserve to be treated with dignity and honor both in life and at the time of their death. As a veteran, I want military funeral honors to be given to all who serve their country.
