For just a few thousand a guy could put up a bounce around inflatable to keep the interest of the children that are visiting our beloved shrine of corn…however interesting corn on a building may be to a kid…there isn’t one thing on our mainstreet to entice them short of the newly opened candy store (kudos to them). The fact that we have to spend 100K to have someone from another town AND state tell us what we need to do is somewhat disheartening that we evidently don’t have anyone smart enough locally to do the job. This model seems to be cropping up in our city politics more and more. Someone should tell the Tshirt people in the enchanted doll museum that they own a castle…..ahem…you OWN A CASTLE. Kids probably are looking over at the place thinking “COOL, a castle…..oh….they sell tshirts…bummer”. How easy would it have been to take the flippin’ 100,000 and buy that building and turn it into a kids section of the corn palace experience….we don’t need to blow all this money we just need compitent people in charge who actually give a rip and want to come up with new ideas a pursue them….by the way, the inflatable’s idea came to me from a “simple” day laborer who said “gee, somebody could make some money setting up inflatables near the corn palace”. I vote for the common man who makes less than 30,000 a year.

Dr. Zeus, your ideas are good ones, this is the type of input needed from citizens of our community.
I would encourage you in the future to attend the budget hearings and share your thoughts. The more people that get involved in the process the better.
Please send your name and contact information to greg@gregmccurry.com so I can let you know when I am holding coffee with the councilman sessions so you can share your ideas for Mitchell.
