I don’t understand the recall. One would and should expect every lot of ground poultry to be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria. It is inherent to the way poultry is slaughtered.
You get by fine as long as the meat is kept as pieces because the outside is always adequately cooked, but go to ground meat with people’s habit of not cooking it adequately and you have food poisoning. That’s just the way it is.
There are three ways to control it. Cook the meat adequately, stop allowing ground poultry, or irradiation.
